Diabetes Blog Week: My Fantasy Device

Topic of the day for D-Blog Week: Tell us what your Fantasy Diabetes Device would be? Think of your dream blood glucose checker, delivery system for insulin or other meds, magic carb counter, etc etc etc. The sky is the limit – what would you love to see?

It didn’t take me long to come up with a fantasy device I’d love. I’d love to have a cure where no devices are required. But in the meantime, I know what else I’d love. Both my kids hate changing their infusion sets. Infusion set change time is usually a tough time, many days with tears, for my daughter. My son doesn’t like it either and tends to push it past three days. And those no delivery alarms are the worst when I have to enforce changing it out, even if it’s not due.

So my fantasy device would be an implantable type infusion set. One that does not require changing and would not clog up. Of all they do related to the pump, I think changing the infusion set is the worst part for them. I know because of the risk of infection this may not ever be an option for a real device, but I can dream and hope for something like this! It would make living with diabetes much easier!

Comment below and tell me about your fantasy device!
